24 with 27yr old Dh, dinks.

Evening!

I'm 24 with a 27yr old Dh. We are dinks on a combined approx 90k per year, with one cat and one dog.
We live in our townhouse that we (the bank) own.

Unfortunately we discovered the joy of control over money too late and are currently 19k (down from 28k in 6 months ) in consumer debt. We are currently on the Dave Ramsey plan and look to be debt free by October. Then we move onto our emergency fund of 3-6 months of expenses. After this we plan to attack our mortgage as we hope to have all mortgage paid by the time I'm 31 (this includes an upgrade in the next 7 years).

As we are both government servants in Australia, we have the benefit of compulsory contribution of 5% from ourselves with a 12.75% contribution from the employer (government).

I'm looking forward to meeting like minded people here. We don't have an exact year of early retirement in mind yet. We will take it as it come for immediate future.

Welcome to the forum!

In your 20's you're doing very well to have paid off $9k in six months and have a plan to pay off the rest shortly.

G'day, and welcome to the forum! If the media are correct, then you already own property in a booming property market. Hopefully you bought before it got overheated. Sounds like Oz is the place to be these days. One of my relatives recently moved there and loves it. I hope to visit some day!
