Hi everyone - just discovered this forum and wanted to introduce myself.
I only discovered the early retirement community a few months ago, although I've always been focused on becoming financially independent. In my personal case, my story wasn't about careful financial planning but a fair amount of luck.
I used to work in the technology investing field and I came across a particularly interesting opportunity to (personally) invest in a software startup. The startup ended up doing so well, that I was able to make a full-time living just from the dividend payments after a few years. While I held onto my full-time job for another four years (helping me build up my retirement assets and purchase some real estate), I recently left corporate employment and am working on a new venture. Once you've had a taste of entrepreneurship, it's pretty difficult to stay in a corporate role
Looking forward to speaking to others on the forum
