47 with dreams of financial freedom

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for a while, so I thought it was time I joined in

A bit about me:

I'm 46 turning 47 in a few months (just to explain my username LOL). My wife and I live in Canada. My main goal is to have the financial freedom to make some career decisions at 55, including a possible move to the west coast, closer to our families. I hope to be fully retired by 58-60.

Our net worth is approx $650,000, made up of a house, company pension and about $100,000 in investments. After paying off our house last year, we've been putting about 40% of my gross wage (wage = $110,000) into investments. We plan to continue doing this until retirement ... if at all possible. Our lifestyle is quite modest, living well below our means, so hopefully that bodes well for us before and during retirement.

Looking forward to doing some more reading, getting some advice, and hopefully contributing to the occasional discussion.
