You know, her uties are not too awfully bad considering that they have cable and if the OP resides in S.Florida they have to water everything 365 days probably, and the AC all year round. It depends on the lot and the size of the house.
Not sure how insurance and property taxes compare locally or statewide, it can be also on the normal side. It all depends on the location, location, location + hurricane insurance.

Yes - those costs are after downsizing. My current home is actually more expensive ! New home will be 1200 sq ft. Everyone thinks Florida is inexpensive - it is NOT. Real Estate taxes are high and home owners insurance is crazy. But my family is here and I'm not leaving.

Yep. Believe me, theres no waste on the home costs. Perhaps I could give up cable but that would save me about $30 a month. Not going to make that much of a dent in ER.
