Hello all. My name is Chris and I'm 57, hoping to retire at 60. We'll be staying in place in the midwest. some of my issues are:

dealing with the age difference between my husband and myself (8 years difference) - our money potentially has to last longer for me. There are some things we'd like to do in retirement that may be difficult to do if we wait too long....

Part of our retirement is a state pension (no cost of living in this case) and something we always thought was rock solid safe but now there are all sorts of rumblings about state pensions. There's no way we can make up the difference in time so to what extent should we be worried about it?

Finding a good balance between being excessively frugal and spending enough to enjoy ourselves.

Good to meet you all.

Welcome. Have you noticed the link to FIRECALC at the bottom of the page. Play around with it when you have a chance. What happens when you enter your expected incomes and expenses? Maybe with and without (some portion of?) your state pension?

Welcome! I've only been here a few days, but I like reading all the forums.
