Greetings and Salutations.....

I just found this site and thought it was very interesting and hopefully helpful.
I am not quite ready to retire just yet but find it very helpful reading of other folk's experiences and issues. There are so many things to consider about retiring. I am plenty tired to retire but not fully prepared as yet.

I am in Texas where it is plenty hot and sunny. Too hot for Golf and too sunny for sun bathing.... guess I will stay inside in the AC.

Before pulling the trigger, make sure that you have plenty of interests to fill your time. That's part of the preparation process, and is every bit as important as the financial aspect.

The chances of successfully transitioning to retirement are substantially increased if one retires to something positive, rather than away from something negative. In other words, if you retire because you want to (say) volunteer, you'll likely be happier and more content than if you retire merely because you're 'burnt out' and hate your job.
