Hey all,

I'm a 27 year old guy from Chicago. Aiming my sights high, I hope to FIRE by 35 (though I would still probably work sporadically). I started on my current path a couple of years ago by reading the ERE blog. I've never been a workaholic, I generally prefer the path that's smart and simple(comes in handy for a software engineer). FI feels deeply consistent with my other beliefs, I tend to be individualistic and risk-averse. Spending wise, I'm somewhere in between ERE and average middle class person, more like an MMM level.

After FI, I plan to do long term travel, some by bike, some by train and some by plane. If I get the opportunity, I'd like to go back to school for a degree in something unprofitable.

I hope to contribute some intelligent questions to this great forum.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Make a realistic two year plan and then reevaluate at that time.
