hi I am jazzipu

I've been reading quite a few years finally decided to join.

Question: I am 62 and wife is 67 she is collecting SS I am waiting till 65 when medi-care kicks in to collect mine (which is much higher than hers)

Am I eligible to collect on hers until I collect on mine?

Just don't want to leave anything on the table in case I am eligible for this.

Her SS is about 1200 a month.

Use Open Social Security

I suggest you go to this website and plug in your and your wife’s actual numbers. It will calculate the best take strategy for you using current mortality tables.

I find the site very helpful.

My guess is No. You are to young. You can't do that until you reach full retirement age. And, I think you have to hit 62 before 2016. (But that's good, just ask a rich old man.)

IIRC, your wife could have collected on your SS account at full retirement age. But, since she has already flipped the switch on her account, I suspect she can no longer do that.

This is all from my memory, so do some research as SS is complicated and I could be wrong in whole or part. You might start here:
