Howdy

vital stats:

Me 38, wife 40, no kids

$40k in IRA, $20k in taxable investments, ($10k in money market for an emergency fund and $10k in mutual funds)

$250k mortgage 6.25% fixed, 29 years left.

$70k owed on business loans but this will be paid off in 2 years and that will free up $700 a week.

We have no other debt. I am currently putting the most I can yearly in into my IRA. I want to get another $10k in my emergency fund then I will start dumping money into a Roth.

I feel like I am little behind the curve on saving for retirement after reading some of the posts on here but I should be able to make up a lot of ground after I pay off my business.

BTW, my name is Chad and I am glad I found this forum.

Welcome Chad.

Some folks here had to start all over again and they were older than you...but they have done very well. Contribute as much as you can, we can all learn some new tricks!
