Only a few days to go...

Last day at office is one week away, and then Chapter 3 begins. This forum has helped with many questions I had, and did not know I had, to get here. Thank you all for the insight. Yes, I have reviewed the Important Questions to Answer and at 60 I am confident that between pension, SS, and 401k I am good to go - again, thanks for the insight that helped lead to that conclusion.

At this point I will probably be following more of the Life after FIRE type discussions. I have plenty to keep me busy - golf, running, and several years of minor house projects that I have put off until retired. In addition there are several things I want to explore - keyboard and/or guitar, yoga, and kayaking to name a few. Younger DW has a few years to go so no extended travel plans at this point. The only commitment I have in the future is a half-marathon next March - and yet again, thanks for the insight that helped me understand not to commit to a bunch of stuff.

Congratulations Chapter 3, in advance!

DW and I FIRE'd 4 years ago, and the last week at w*rk was probably the best week of my life! I enjoyed making my rounds catching up with old w*rk friends and sharing the news of my departure. I couldn't help but grin ear-to-ear during meetings when the remainder of my responsibilites where offloaded to those left behind.

Sounds like you are confident financially. Perhaps DW can be enticed to join you sooner in retirement and travel around the world. You can't take your health for granted. Our older friends, even those in their early 70',s have slowed considerably and all have faced significant health challenges.

Enjoy your victory lap!

Welcome aboard 3! You'll soon join the rest of us that had the good fortune (and did the hard work) to achieve the ultimate professional goal - the end of said profession. So congratulation for that achievement!

Like the Bear said, look at any course of action that gets your spouse to the free zone a little earlier. Time is very, very finite.

All - Thank you.

FreeBear - After reading the discussion on "how much notice" I settled on 2-months. Yes, it has been nice since then as I let things go, but I do anticipate this week will be the best. DW still enjoys her career so I will not be messing with that. Fortunately her work includes some travel that I tag along with when the location is interesting.

Red Badger - It has been weird that something I worked so hard for I am so happy to let go of. Oh, thats right - Time>Money.

Welcome to our wonderful site C3.
I have been retired for 16 months and still find some great info in the Fire and Money section.
Retirement will be great for you.

Thank you Dtail. Certainly did not intend to suggest that the Fire and Money section does not have great info - much of which I have used. Anticipate I will still reference it, but am hoping to focus on other things as well.
