Re-introducing ourselves
17 years ago we began our journey to retire early - at 31 years old.
I picked this username - thinking it would be this year....
We started with a seriously negative net worth, went Dave Ramsey ish for a few years. We lived on 25% of income, and lived well below means - paying off debt and maximizing 401k, roth iras, etc.
We are now at $2.5M net worth, with 400k being house. The other $2.1 is evenly split between taxable brokerage, Roth 401k/IRAs, and Regular 401K
I think we'll wait and work a few more years - so won't retire this year. But, we could.
We're more or less on autopilot with budgeting/spending now. I haven't really looked into retiring early. It was a thought/dream 17 years ago....
Thanks for the forum. I'll re-read and participate now (haven't really looked at things since going debt free in 2008).

Welcome back. Look forward to your posts. Don't wait too long to retire. 50's can be an exciting time where everything comes together.

Welcome back! Sounds like you are at or near FI, which is really the goal after all - once you hit FI, you can RE whenever you want. Congratulations on your achievement and thanks for your inspiration to all our "young dreamers" who aren't sure it's possible.

X2, good job becoming FI. It sounds like you can retire anytime you want.

Congrats! My advice is...retire at 50 or between now and then. People tend to start to have health problems between 47-50, so you might want to enjoy life if your income meets your lifestyle requirements!

Hello! I just saw your post after trying and failing to post almost the same thing a few minutes ago. I'm almost in the same position as you - I'm turning 52 soon. Keep us posted on how it goes.
