Ready to learn

Hello to all! I’ve posted a couple of times but never introduced myself. I am a 31 year old sales manager and my DW is a 22 year old student/sales person.

This forum is such a great resource for someone like me who feels like he’s a bit behind and has a lot to learn. My goal is to retire by 55, although, my DW plans to work for a few years after I retire. Thanks to this forum, I’ve learned the power of spreadsheets. I’m addicted.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Re: Ready to learn

Hey getwet,

31 w/ 24 years till planned ER is not behind - depending on your income and ability to LBYM/save - heck you could pull it off by 50! Having a wife willing to stay in the workforce after you leave is GREAT-

Good luck and welcome

Welcome back to the board, GW!

So, what'd you guys decide to do with your Roth/401(k) contributions?

Re: Ready to learn

Hi Nords!

My DW and I have made quite a few changes to our plans since I first posted. I actually opted out of my company's 401(k) plan this last quarter (not matched) so that we could pay off our credit card debt. It should be paid off by January, just in time to opt back in. My 401(k) is invested in JH Lifestyle Aggressive, Pacific Rim Fund, and Real Estate Securities Fund. DW received a promotion this year and will be eligible for a company matched 401(k) in September. So, we plan to focus on the 401(k)'s this year, and, depending on how things go, we may possibly open a Roth (Vanguard 500 Index Fund) for my DW.

P.S. Black's was 10' yesterday. I got one good one and another one got me.
