Travelling Soldier

Hello. I'm new to the forum.

I'm an Active Duty Soldier. I'm stationed in Hawaii, but I'm half-way through a year long "easy" depolyment in Asia. I'm married and have two kids (3 and 5). My (crazy) wife works (part-time) and is also going to school to get her Doctorate... while caring for our children!

I'm about 4-5 years from my anticipated "retirement" date from the Army. My wife also spent 14 years on Active Duty and is now in the reserves.

I expect to pass the $1 million dollar amount (several times I'm sure) in portfolio worth this year, prior to turning 40. My wife turns 39 this year also.

We are "sporatic investors." It's been a crazy year!!!

I am looking forward to learning new stuff from this site.

Happy Holidays!!!

Jeremy

Welcome!

I'm a fellow Soldier, planning to retire sometime between August 2015 and MRD of Oct 18. Would have been August, but with the new, and far from I proved "COLA minus 1" debacle, I'll need to stay a but longer for safety sake.

Congrats on the impressive portfolio accumulation! Hopefully you break the 1M mark for good in 2014....another year like 2013 would be nice!

Thanks to both you and your wife for serving the Nation, and Merry Christmas!

Welcome, Jeremy. We're in Central Oahu. Look me up for a cup of coffee when you get back and we'll talk more about your financial independence.

With your current assets, even a Reserve pension can lock in your FI. Your active-duty pension will make it a reality.

Welcome, Jeremy. Sounds like you and your wife are doing a wonderful job financially. I can't imagine how you are pulling off your family and work life. It makes me tired to think about it. There are many smart members here and I have learned quite a bit. Thanks for your service.
