Yet another new guy

I'm 55, my wife is 53, and we've been retired for a little over 5 years.

We live, at the moment, on the north central Gulf coast of Florida, which is our second location after retiring - our first home was on the southwest Gulf coast of Florida. Yes, there is a trend here - we're getting a bit weary of the hurricanes, heat, and the aggravations associated with rampant real estate growth.

I hope to get some relocation ideas (with and without keeping our house in FL) from this site, along with whatever good ideas I happen across. Our problem is not, therefore, whether or not we can make this work financially; rather, it is the "now what?" issue.

The 'now what' issue. - It means whatever you want, and that is the best thing.

As Nords says - 'You now have to be responsible for your own entertainment'.

Too true. And I think that a change of scenery would help in that.

But I would hate to think that our idea of entertainment is moving every few years. Did too much of that when we were in harness.

Re: Yet another new guy

Well, actually we are considering WY and MT.

A number of years ago, in a different life, I was stationed at Frankie Warren's Rocket Ranch in Cheyenne for a while. I did a little fishing there at that time. And that was the last time I visited Jackson Hole, which has gotten pretty pricey, I'm told. I'd have too hard a time remembering what I could have paid for a place there.

And a pal who lives in Billings has demanded that we come take a look. So I'll probably go take at look.

Also looking at WA, OR, and ID. Kind of leaning towards WA and OR at the moment - sounds weird, but I like the weather there.

Clark,

We just finished 27 days of rain yesterday.
One day after the "Seahawks' victory over Washington.

Better get your webbed feet in shape!

Seriously, its a great place to live..but don't tell anyone.
The housing prices are getting pretty awful though.
Oregon might be a better bet.

P.S. It started raining again last night....
