one of the styx guys is one of my newer neighbors. he's doing a gorgeous job on his house. met him while i was touring area damage after wilma. didn't know who i was talking to, just some guy who moved here from chicago. then he turned up at my other neighbor's xmas party and we chatted some more. later another neighbor told me who he was. you just never know who you're talking to.

Speaking of sightings.. anyone know who this might be? Possibly a musician. An Italian music nut friend of ours sent us these pix with his kid.. with the title "I am speechless"!

Re: 70s music explosion

I just found out the woman who sings " The Night the lights went out in Georgia" was momma on Momma's family. VH1 70s round 2 was on last night* :P

Is that Robert Plant?

Yep, that was "Mama", Vicki Lawrence! "Mama's Family" was one of my favorite shows, especially the old NBC episodes. I always thought it would be cool to see Vicki sing that song while in Mama drag. Did she ever sing anything else, or was she a one-hit wonder?

I'm stumped. Either I did way too many drugs in the 70's to recollect this face or it truly sucks getting old. :P

Re: 70s music explosion

My husband just got home.
"How could you not recognize?!"
"Especially the second one with the eyeglasses pulled down !!"

Apparently it was a kind of test for me..
I was supposed to know right away that it is Keith Emerson.

Now I am supposed to be embarassed, as I have made a "brutta figura"!*

Re: 70s music explosion

Jut saw the Beach Boys last night. What a great show they put on. Sang & danced, the whole place looked like several thousand people doing karaoke at the same time.

Oh wait, that was the 60s

CFB
Accidently discovered this a few years ago. The theme to "I Dream of Jeanie" is a perfect mind eraser. It actually gets rid of persistant song melodies and lyrics and then fades away on its own. Try it in a group. Usually results in a fun group "hum" with the only side effect is at least one person physically acting out the drum bom.bom.bom.bom.

Re: 70s music explosion

Afternoon Delight was the worst song in history!!
Quote:
Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been 'when it's right, it's right'
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be there any way

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
A little afternoon delight
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Please be waiting for me, baby, when I come around
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Afternoon delight!

How about "Undercover Angel" or "I Wanna Kiss You All Over" :

Really cringe worthy---both of 'em. Or anything Donny and Marie.

Yeah, but then you've got the frickin tune to "I dream of jeanie" stuck in your head!

NO LEO SAYER PHOTO POSTINGS WILL BE TOLERATED WITHOUT SERIOUS REPERCUSSIONS!

Donny and Marie. That I hadnt thought about either of them in decades is proof of the minds ability to heal itself from exposure to hideous things...
