90-year-old enters Honolulu Marathon

His wife is not happy.

I haven't really paid any attention to the race before, but at 9 AM Friday morning Waikiki & Ala Moana Park were clogged with packs of joggers getting in "one last run". 26,000 people can really fill the place up.

Now, that's a goal to shoot for. 90 years old and able to complete a marathon!

Assuming I don't get run down by an 18 wheeler over the next 10 years, I hope to continue riding my bicycle into my 80's but in my 90's hum, maybe that's a possibility.

Re: 90-year-old enters Honolulu Marathon

I live in an area of Ontario, the Town of the Blue Mountains, that is mainly small villages but the activity level runs the who;le gammut from sking to biking to hiking to fishing to golf etc etc etc.

Some of my neighbours, in their 80's ski daily, most hike several miles a day, some still run the trails, but the adage use it or lose it is so true.

They serve as my inspiration, a retired Road racer due to injuries, i get guilt trips if i do not do something physical daily.(get those dirty thoughts out of your minds)

Well, the race is over and he ran for at least six hours, but I don't know if he's still on the course or if he quit after 30K. You'd think the local paper would follow up more quickly on these burning issues...

It probably takes the Marathon staff a week to finish all the data entry.

What I'd like to know is how many women were in the 85-89 group?!?

OK, he crossed the finish line after "only" 13 hours, so I'm securing the Terukina watch.

BTW there was a male runner in the 95-99 category!

Re: 90-year-old enters Honolulu Marathon

Let's see, when I was jogging, I used to run 3 1/2 miles in 30 minutes or less. I could beat him!
