ABC News - U.S. Disaster Plans 'Totally Unacceptable'

ABC News - U.S. Disaster Plans 'Totally Unacceptable' Retired Marine Maj. Gen. Says Plans "Couldn't Move a Girl Scout Unit"
ABC News: U.S. Disaster Plans 'Totally Unacceptable'

Excerpts from the article
We looked at their plans. They're totally unacceptable," said commission chairman Arnold Punaro, a retired Marine Corps major general.
"You couldn't move a Girl Scout unit with the kind of planning they're doing," Punaro said of plans drafted by U.S. Northern Command, the part of the military responsible for homeland defense.
While other federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, are responsible for pieces of the government's response to an attack, the Defense Department is the only agency with the resources and capabilities to manage the overall response, the commission argued.

End of excerpts

Folks this assessment is coming from a retired Marine Corps General, LT. GENERAL Arnold Punaro (I guess the man is going on a political rant).

One has to wonder who is minding the candy store when per the General's assessment it would be hard for a component of the U.S government to move a Girls Scouts unit.

I guess the arguments that Old George W and his adminstration have made our country a lot safer have just went out the window again.

It makes one wonder where the billions and billions of $$$$ spent on homeland security have gone and how those $$$$ have been spent.

GOD BLESS US ALL

Did Lt. General Arnold Punaro also lay out in detail how he tried to get his message to the govt. WHILE he was in a POSITION to make something happen........

Probably not, there's plenty of retired "experts" in TV land..........

They just want more money - that's all - it's all political maneuvering (scare the public) so they get a bigger piece of the pie.
