The Avengers with Dianna Rigg. I still want the theme for a ringtone.

Same. The original series was always on at "the right time" in reruns. When I first watched it was on on bowling night for my parents. It was on just after brunch in college. It was on at 12:30 pm in graduate school. (I remember once Letterman did a split-screen spoof "for all of those switching back and forth between Star Trek reruns and my show.")

I'm slowly plodding my way through DS9 reruns now on my tablet when I am cooking in the afternoon. Garak! Everyone's favorite character.

(For cartoons, does anyone remember "Johnny Quest"? The BEST theme:

Today I enjoy the forensic shows like CSI and NCIS, but I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed one of the originals until I found it again on Start TV. Crossing Jordan was unique in it's time and I also enjoy The Closer still, even when I remember an episode from back when. So, glad for stations like Antenna, Cozy, MeTV, etc. that bring back the old shows. They're especially easy to watch when nothing good is on network or it's all reruns from last month.

A lot of my friends zealously watched Upstairs Downstairs every Sunday evening on PBS—I never saw an episode but might start streaming it as I did enjoy the series Downton Abbey and the movie Gosford Park.

You will probably also like "A Place to Call Home". We are streaming it on Acorn.

And here I was thinking I was the only person who had even heard of "You'll Never Get Rich". It was brilliant, and like those Honeymooners shows, perfected one of the great archetypes in comedy: in Bilko's case, the get-rich-quick schemer (to go with Ralph Kramden's blustering, lovable blue-collar everyman).

Also, like The Honeymooners, it was so popular it spawned a cartoon series. Top Cat was obviously inspired by Sgt Bilko, just as The Flintstones was derived from The Honeymooners.

Of more recent vintage, another show I thoroughly enjoyed was "Third Rock From the Sun". Like The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres before it, Third Rock took the classic fish-out-of-water motif to a fresh level.

P.S. This is crazy! I'm an engineer, but here I sound like a teacher in a theater arts class. I think I may have missed my true calling 40 years ago...
