One of my favorites when I was a young buck. Great guitarist!
Just curious, why are you surprised?I'm surprised he made it this far. What a 'Heartbreaker'.

The lines in that song that stayed with me, but I do not know whether he was advocating eliminating a privileged class, or saying that approach is futile in eliminating poverty and hunger.

"Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more"
I guess it can be interpreted in whatever direction your political views take you.
No, my comment was not political at all and was not intended to start or fan a political argument. It is a great song. Your posting of that song just reminded me of the lines and different take one can deduce from those lines.Maybe we can just forget about politics and remember the man and his music.
Of course not. How can these lines be misconstrued as being even vaguely political...No, my comment was not political at all...

I did not write those lines, and I was just saying the song was interesting, on top of being a good song, because it created a puzzle when it contained those lines that can be interpreted both ways.Of course not. How can these lines be misconstrued as being even vaguely political...
Right. You were pointing out the alternative political interpretation - while not bringing up politics.I did not write those lines, and I was just saying the song was interesting, on top of being a good song, because it created a puzzle when it contained those lines that can be interpreted both ways.
I was pointing out the vagueness of the lines and how great arts leave questions hanging to be answered. And I am also puzzled by the attitude that any conversation that even has a hint of politics are being treated as worse than splashing out child porn by some here. Life, finance, the environmentic that affect retirement are all profoundly affected by politics.Right. You were pointing out the alternative political interpretation - while not bringing up politics.
...vagueness of the lines...
Songwriters: ALVIN LEE
Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, monopoly
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
The First law of holes is a proverb attributed to British politician Denis Healey. It states,
"If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."
