An Icon May Die - But The Money Keeps On Flowing

Since no one in the previous generations of my family had enough foresight to do something iconic like, I better get busy real soon on becoming a royalty producing iconic celebrity...

Re: An Icon May Die - But The Money Keeps On Flowing

Interesting.. everyone is in showbiz/art/entertainment (with the concomitant royalties and copyright protections they enjoy) except for Einstein! Kind of curious how he makes $20million a year.. can't be from his books; I tried to read one and gave up.

Wonder how the real benefactors to society stack up.. (a Linus Pauling or a Jonas Salk vs. Kurt Cobain).

George Washington? Lincoln? .. what if their heirs got a dollar/penny every time their images were used, or their words cited? !

I think I'll do my best to stay off that list.

wikipedia:
Quote:
Einstein bequeathed his estate, as well as the use of his image (see personality rights), to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.[66] Einstein actively supported the university during his life and this support continues with the royalties received from licensing activities. The Roger Richman Agency licences the commercial use of the name "Albert Einstein" and associated imagery and likenesses of Einstein, as agent for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. As head licensee the agency can control commercial usage of Einstein's name which does not comply with certain standards (e.g., when Einstein's name is used as a trademark, the symbol must be used).[67] As of May, 2005, the Roger Richman Agency was acquired by Corbis.
