Thanks all....we buried her last night next to a huge rock out behind the barn....I suspect that a lot of people dont even get such a huge marker... I have to admit that there is some relief of the sadness not seeing her suffer anymore...

Lest we forget:

<Rainbow Bridge>

I have the ashes of my previous three dogs, with instructions for them to "go with me" after I pass.

Who says that animals have no "souls". I often think they are the only ones that have them.

Take care...

Sorry for your loss. As the owner of two older beagles, I know what you have gone through. Even though it is hard to see them suffer, I know you gave her the best possible life.

Hope you take some comfort in knowing that you made her elder time as good as it could be. Nice that she's staying on the farm.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard losing a furry member of the family.

So sad here for you too--what a sweet face Maddy had. I've just recently decided we need another puppy to fill the hole in our life left two years ago by the passing of our last dog. Life is lonely without a dog.

I think it was Jpatrick that came up with that when his puppy passed on awhile back...It was certainly something that I remember....

I'm so sorry to hear about Maddy. She looks like a very sweet dog.

It's always painful when one of our pets pass away. They become a big part of our lives. You can take some small measure of relief that her suffering is over.

Cherish your memories of Maddy. I think she was lucky to have you for her person.

My condolences on your loss. We had a beagle when I was growing up. They are great friends. You'll cherish memories of her forever.
