Any Family X-mas Tradition You'd Like to Share??

15 years ago, my sister and I started a holiday tradition of making Tanqueray and Tonics on X-mas Eve. It started because one X-mas my parents were out of town on a cruise, and she and I had just broken up with our SOs. I drove to her house, and we stayed up drinking T&T's until the bottle was gone........

Now that she's gone, I have switched to Duvel on X-mas Eve (her favorite beer) and Bailey's on X-mas Day (My favorite). The only difference is I have 1-2 drinks instead of many...........

Christmas eve we rent sappy movies, make a pizza and drink a bottle of champagne.

Turns out champagne and pizza are great together. We started this many years ago as well..

I had broken my toe 2 days before Christmas and was sulking, DH offered to make me a pizza for dinner (scratch crust, artichokes, greek olives, portabello mushrooms) and when I was less than enthusiastic about this lovely celebratory gesture he put away the fresca and pulled out a bottle of brut.

We've been doing this ever since (minus the throbbing toe part) and I look forward to it immensely.

We bring down a bearskin laprobe from the rug room and spread it in front of the burning fireplace and open our little and/or special gifts to each other while doing in a bottle of champagne. She makes fun of me for keeping 4.5 hours of video fireplace on the DVR and playing it. We give the cats hell for kneading the rug, then give them their little treats. We have canned ham sammiches (hearkening back to when we were working on this house and had Christmas eve here with wind whistling through the walls), and, depending on the champagne, we may make it into the hot tub. Champagne cork goes into the row of Christmas corks lining the top of the mantle mirror.

I have a whole collection of Christmas chick flicks so when my daughter comes we usually whip them out and drink cheap wine out of the snowmen wine glasses .
