Amazing. Just as this thread popped up, a kayak commercial was playing on TV.
Coincidence.... or conspiracy?

Here's my political take. *When Bill Clinton was running for a second term he had absolutely no chance of being voted in for a second term. *What happened? *The Republicans nominated the "800 year old man" -- remember Bob Dole.

There was no way that George Bush was going to win again in 2004 but what happened? *The Democrats nominated an anti-war activist that ran on his military record!!!!! *We would be talking about President Kerry today if it wasn't for the idiotic "reporting for duty" speech. *If he would have just downplayed it all and said it was in his past, etc., *all of the Swift Boat stuff would have died. *The Dems couldn't stop going after Bush's ancient history and irrelevant Viet Nam National Guard service while saying their guy who threw medals back and met with the enemy was a hero. *Most voters don't know any more about Viet Nam than the Spanish American War. *It's ancient history to most voters. *The political consultants lost both elections.

I doubt it. Remember what happened to McCain in the South Carolina primary?
Kerry lost because he's a northeast liberal. The brand is out of favor in the heartland. I'm surprised he did as well as he did.

Re: Anyone else pi$$ed off that Bin Laden is still alive?

I'm PO'd that this country has only the likes of Gore, Kerry, Bush, Dean, etc to offer. Bush could not have beat Gore if the vote was not so close. Arguing over whether he won by .001% of the total vote says neither was offering leadership that the voters could really relate to.

Next up should be interesting, lots of diverse personalities as possibles.
Hillary, Condi, Boxer, Allred, McCain, J. Bush, Jesse, Dean, Obama.

should be interesting.

Clinton would have beat any and all Republican challengers. He was (and is) immensly popular. I seriously doubt that the choice of Dole influenced the election.

Re: Anyone else pi$$ed off that Bin Laden is still alive?

Clinton made me a fortune. Whatever faults he may/may not have had, I approve of.

Bob Dole is hard to listen to. I'm sure he is a good man but I couldn't determine that from the short news clips and releases. He seemed petrified and anyone who speaks of Bob this and Bob that, needs some good support people to help him. He evidently had not watched many Seinfeld episodes about Joey.

March 2002:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0020313-8.html

Quote:
THE PRESIDENT: ...You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you.* I'm more worried about making sure that our soldiers are well-supplied; that the strategy is clear; that the coalition is strong...
...
THE PRESIDENT:* Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him.* And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure.* And, again, I don't know where he is.* I* --* I'll repeat what I said.* I truly am not that concerned about him.*
I actually kind of get what he's saying, but...
Soldiers well-supplied?
Strategy clear?
Coalition strong?

not that I've heard lately.

The polls just before the election cycle had Clinton down and vulnerable. There were lots of issues and his support was weak. The first 3 years of his first term wasn't the boom times of the last 4. It was only when the Republicans put up a man that came across as old and feeble compared to the youthful Clinton that the landslide took place.

Kerry lost several states by only a small number of votes. He also won several states by a small number of votes. The election was very close. His decision to run on his war record made his anti-war activism an easy target. The campaign response was poor. I'm willing to bet that Kerry lost a lot of votes over that.

Bin Laden has diabetes. I'm sure he's getting great care out in the hills of Afghanistan or Pakistan. I've always liked camping out in the mountains but after a year or two I'd be pretty tired of going the the bathroom in a hole in the ground.

REW - Justins post as well as my pithy response to his post was deleted for some odd reason. Maybe it was our *support* for Clinton, I don't know.

The rules on the forum:

1. Post non sequiturs attacking Bush, and it's fine.

2. Post non sequiturs attacking Clinton, and your post gets deleted.
