Take care, OAP. The folks at Mayo know what to do...........

I am praying for you..........I lost my sister to cancer on Aug 30th, so it is fresh in my mind.

Her oncologist told me her WILL gave her 3 more years than she should have had, so we have comfort in that...........it's all about the WILL to survive....

Re: Anyone in touch with OAP?

Anyone know what happened to OAP's Blog? I tried to access it today, and it was gone. Did he say anything about discontinuing it? I know he was going to be leaving San Francisco for the Mayo Clinic. Hopefully, he will start the Blog back up again, or keep up his communications with us through the ER Forum.

OAP - I wish you well. Take care.

I thought he had his blog URL in his profile, but his last visit here was on the 19th.

I bet he did some more deleting.

Re: Anyone in touch with OAP?

He posted some personal family information lately, and maybe thought better of it (or got an earful) and took it offline. I was able to read the blog last night (or maybe it was this morning), but not now.

Re: Anyone in touch with OAP?

I was cajoled, prodded and threatened by a very good friend on this board to get my padded posterior to Mayo, and so I did. Impressed is too mild.

Right to the point: My tests and results.
Tuesday 8:00AM- Blood Venipuncture= Everything normal except low red blood cell count.
Tuesday 9:00AM- Mid-Stream Urine= Everything perfectly normal.
Tuesday 11:00AM- CT Full Body Scan = Lots of nifty masses and compost pile leftovers to look at tomorrow.

Wednesday 8:00AM- Nurse spends 30 minutes verifying that all my records were interpreted by her and the doctor. He is reading the summary as we speak.
Wednesday 8:30AM- Dr. Leibovich (specialist in Renal Cell Carcinoma and Metastatic Disease) gives me his professional opinion on each and every mass/tumor/nodule/cyst/abscess and assorted other intra-abdominal trash.

1) Lung nodule - Non-cancerous and most likely a granuloma in the process of calcification. Has been evaluated by Dr Wigle a Thoracic Cancer specialist. Appointment for 1:00PM with Dr. Wigle is cancelled for lack of need. Not an issue.
*** Has not grown between Feb. CT-Scan and most current scan on Oct 10.

2) Liver cyst - Very tiny and completely without a blood supply, a feature that the Dr. says is very common in older people.
*** Has not grown between Feb. CT-Scan and most current scan on Oct 10.

3) Kidney mass - He compares it to similar tissue nearby and says it is a combination of scar formation and dried blood because it keeps shrinking from CT to next CT. Meaning it is being slowly re-absorbed. He feels that (based on pos-op pathology report)I had a T1a size with Furhman grade 2 and that I am very unlikely to have metastatic disease. And that CTs and MRIs confirm that.

Friday 7:30AM CT scan with smoothie (banana) and iodine dye. Lots of angles.
Friday 9:15AM Appt. with Infectious Disease specialist
4. Abscess capsule - After a CT on Tuesday and one on Friday with Smoothie and dye, the infectious disease Dr. (full professor) called the radiologist for a real-time discussion of the resulting CT scan and said: "The radiologist and I concur that your abscess is gone and their is no fluid in the abdomen. Get the PICC line removed at your conveience, stop Imipenem." Blood work shows no microbes.

So, here it is Saturday 14-Oct-2006 and I have been given a very good report on my health and a very good outlook for 10 year success rate. A new lease.

I'm wondering if a quick face-lift and a trip to meet the Japanese honey might be a nice reward. Yeah, I'm wondering.

Thanks for asking. (I erased nothing)
