Aviation History XP59A
America's first jet flight, Oct 1942.
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF AVIATION HISTORY.
This is a very interesting little piece of historical film. It covers America 's entry into the Jet Age with the Bell P59A.

Not really historic - OK, maybe to the guy in the cockpit - but a highly interesting landing. Gives an entirely new meaning to coming in on "a" wing and a prayer...

Yow. I'd definitely need a change of underwear after that one!

I'm beginning to suspect it may be fake. Too amazing to have actually happened?

It looks like an RC plane for part of the video and the sound is not totally in sync.

I suspected the same as well. If so, it is a great fake.

Here's a real wing loss and recovery during an RC aerobatics competition.

When I first saw the video, the blur when the airplane landed caught my eye and gave me suspicion. Then I looked back, and the colors of the striping did not seem to be the same before and after.
Still, it is a pretty cool video.
