Baseball 2015

Stros should close out KC in a few hours
Well, I hope you are right. I'll also be rooting for the Rangers later today too. HOWEVER, being a Houston native and following the Astro's since they were the Colt 45's (and the minor league Buff's before that) I've been disappointed many times before.

Not sure who I'll be rooting for if both the Astro's and Rangers meet in the next round.

we moved to Houston (Alief) in 73 so I've been a fan for over 40 years and yes, several disappointments

nothing was worse than the 86 NLCS....nothing

Dickie Thon getting beaned was close though

Despite the home plate umpire needing glasses (wide strike zone), Lackey just out pitched Lester in Cards/Cubs game 1.

Apparently others agree with you: "To measure an umpire’s accuracy, I built a model of the strike zone that takes into account not only the physical coordinates of the pitch, but also the count and the framing ability of the catcher, factors that are important determinants of the zone’s dimensions. " "

Thanks for the link. For that game, a model wasn't even needed to know the ump was way off. Can't blame Lackey. He was just taking what the ump was giving and giving and giving some more .

My prediction for tonight's Mets vs Dodgers game is that Chase Utley will get beaned and the benches will empty.

I doubt it. Unless maybe its a blowout and they have a relief pitcher they dont mind getting thrown out and possibly suspended. But it would be fun to watch.

Was there a warning given before the game? If so, I'm going with your blowout or expendable relief pitcher thought. Plus, there's always time if the series gets out of hand.

As I said earlier, I have been disappointed by the Astro's many times before. And by the bottom of the 6th inning in today's game, I thought for sure they were going to finally come thru with their four run lead.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Not sure I have ever seen so many players hit by wild pitches and/or foul balls or get hurt by someone sliding into bases in one game. Heck, they even hit/hurt a fan with one of their foul balls.

Well one more chance. Maybe in KC.

I guess the Rangers wanted to make the Astro's feel better so they lost too. Not a good day for the Texas teams.

At least the Cowboys have a bye this weekend, so we do not need to be subjected to that type of suck for a while.

I am near ready to go to using the electronic box for balls and strikes. Thought I would never say that but the strike zone is all over the place. The old thing that if they call it the same for both sides is BS. They are way to inconsistent in my view.
I know the purists will hate this.

The way these series are going, if I believed in conspiracy theories, I'd wonder if the TV networks and teams are pushing for the maximum number of games for the extra "revenues". They must be making millions just on the Viagra commercials. (There's a good joke to be made with that and baseball bats, but I'll let it go.)

Well I should have known this was going to happen since the Texans lost Thursday night too.

Bet your bottom dollar,
You'll lose the blues in Chicago!

(for tonight, anyway...)

The ball was flying out there tonight big time.

Anybody's series to win. I think the series is just starting .

I did get the Sling TV troubles as the picture went out several times. But I did get most of the game including the end. Can't complain though as I'm still on the free trial period.

If they could clone Arrieta two or three times, I'd actually believe the Cubbies could do it.

Well, they did it today with only 6 innings from Arrieta, so we will see.

Go Cubbies!

Tonight the Cubs have to face Lackey again. Hopefully his strike zone is in the digital box this time or at least near it.

Hammel has struggled in the early innings, he needs to correct that tonight.................

I expect Hammel having a very short leash. I suppose Maddon is saving Lester just in case they go back to St. Louis.
