Re: Been one of those days

Some positive news (I'll take what I can get): Porter is feeling well enough this morning that they are going to try offering him some soft food to eat. Still waiting on the radiologist...

Good luck Brewer.

Judy, Pete and Pretty Bird also send their wishes.

UncleMick: I got my first dog of my own at the age of 11. I named it NASA. I was really into the space thing at the time. All the old finns in the area thought its name was Nasser, after the Egyptian socialist. They were quite proud.

Re: Been one of those days

Brewer,
Sorry to hear about your pup being sick.* It's so hard when they can't tell you what's going on.* I had my 12 yr old dog Rufus at the vet for x-rays Tuesday -(he's been limping for a month). While he was "under" they recommended removing a big tumor - now he has a 4 inch Frankenstien incision on his side, and keeps looking at me with that "why did you do this to me" face.

I sympathize.* I hope things improve for you.

Martha - lot of us with Finn in the blood - in SW Washington.

Circa -1957 new house(1898 Victorian) in the city(actual sidewalk out front) - I was pulling up old carpet upstairs - the 1930's something newspaper padding showed the *armed National Guard 'occupying' Longview.

Dad said "That's why - I'm a conservative and vote Democrat." Wait till you get old and study 'the 47 states and Ths Soviet of Washington in history.'

Brewer - hope it's not the big C - lost two that way over the years - at ages around 14 yrs or so - a spaniel(Becky) and a Beagle(Prancer).

Some good news

The CT scan was inconclusive, but no obvious cancerous masses. The pup is responding well to the antibiotic and steroids, so he is coming home tomorrow. Hopefully we finish the course of medication and it doesn't come back. If not, the next step is a biopsy, but hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Re: Been one of those days

Brewer,

Sorry to hear he is not doing well. Hope the medication works and there is no C. Our dog, Susie, had a stroke at 17 yrs old. My daughter is puppy sitting, so I have a 7 week old Daschund (sp?) sleeping on my lap right now. He is so tiny and so cute. Our 5 cats are locked out of the computer room and are not amused. Best wishes.

Re: Been one of those days

The vet thinks he has masticatory myositis. Weird, because it is usually associated with large breeds. If this is indeed the case, it is typically very treatable with prednisone and relapses are unusual. Porter is coming home tonight.

Compared to some of the other possibilities, this doesn't sound to bad.
Hopefully once you get established on the appropriate meds all will be well.
Welcome home Porter!!!

That may be true, but it'll probably be better for everyone if Brewer gives the meds to the dog...
