Best Buy has No Inventory......

Our brand spanking new Best Buy was having an "appliance sale" so I stopped in to look for a new washer.

They only had SIX top loaders on the floor, and only ONE that wasn't their proprietary brand made by Whirlpool called INGLIS or something.......

The sales gal looked online and said she could get me one in two weeks, and I would pay $30 delievery, and $75 setup fee. And, apparently, the washing machine manufacturers decided to QUIT INCLUDING new hookup hoses when you buy a washer to save money.........

On a lighter note, there were about 100 TVs that were 50-66 inches to look at........

Time to go to Sears........

Yeah, I'd definitely be wary of some of the off-brand appliances. On two occasions, people I work with had store-brand appliances (one a washer, the other a refrigerator) that needed repair and they had to wait several weeks for the needed parts to arrive. Apparently, some of these brands do not have good service support and/or supply channels for parts.

I stopped buying at BB a long time ago- they offered me a Same as cash deal on surround sound, then when the bill came it had interest on it and the person on the phone knew nothing about same as cash deal.

Now I buy appliances at HHGregg.
I wish there was "The Stereo Shop" here like there is in western NY- that was best place for stereo equipment when I was growing up.

Most appliance manufacturers started leaving out the hookup stuff quite some time ago. I've been paying extra for supply and drain hoses, power cords, etc for many years.

I've also had stocking problems on most appliances for quite some time. You may not have much better luck at sears...the couple I frequent usually only stock 1-2 of their best sellers (cheap) and everything else is on order. Even when I went with Home Depot on one refrigerator because they promised "deliver the next day from our warehouse!" failed miserably. They just didnt show up. When I called they said "oh, yes...the truck from the warehouse broke down and didnt get here, so we had nothing to bring you!". "Uh, did you think to call me and tell me this?" "Why? We had no refrigerator to bring you! Why would we call you?!?"

Then when I told them I was canceling and buying somewhere else, they tried to charge me a restocking fee...for...something...they...never...delivered.

I've learned a good trick to use on appliances though. Pick one thats on a deep sale, preferably a model closeout, then schedule the delivery for ~2 weeks out. Nobody keeps a good inventory system anymore, so they'll run out before they deliver yours. Then 80% of the time they'll bump you up to the next model up for the same price. Sears and Lowes have both done that for me...

Bunny, you are cheap, even for this forum! (and I mean that in the most complementary way). I'd rather go ahead and pay for the next model up and have the appliance right away, rather than do without the appliance for weeks like that just to save a few bucks.

I did without a refrigerator for a couple of months after ordering it from Sears after Katrina, because a few million other people in the area were trying to get refrigerators too at the time. It is no fun to live without life's modern conveniences like a refrigerator.

Well in one case it was a new refrigerator to replace a really old one that hadnt failed (yet) and in the other it was to get a new washer into the new house we hadnt moved into yet.

In both cases the savings was >$150.

Hell yeah! I bought a washer on sale for $899 with $350 worth of rebates, and got the $1100 washer instead. My $1100 refrigerator got upped to a $1350 model.

Hmm, I guess it was even better than $150...
