Since bbbamI added Bluegrass to the mix with her Flat and Scruggs tune, here's the Father of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe. Flat and Scruggs were in an early version of his band and it was in that era that Bluegrass developed its unique sound and split from old time country and country western music.

One of my favorite Bluegrass singers is Rhonda Vincent. Here is her cover of a Bill Monroe song:

Wow! It was hard picking out only one Alison Krauss song:

We saw Rhonda at a Bluegrass fest in Springfield, Ill a few yrs back. Her Martha White tour bus is pretty impressive! And we enjoyed her set very much.

Steve Earle performing the theme from The Wire, (written by Tom Waits); Earle had a supporting role in the series:

Waylon Jennings
"Luckenbach Texas"

There only two things in life that make it worth livin'
That's guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquis lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Chorus:
Let's go to Luckenbach Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feuding
like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams pain songs, Newberry’s train songs
and blue eyes cryin' in the rain out in Luckenbach Texas
ain't nobody feelin' no pain

So baby let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society you’re crying all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

(Willie Nelson)
Let's go to Luckenbach Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feuding
like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams pain songs, Jerry Jeff's train songs
and blue eyes cryin' in the rain out in Luckenbach Texas
ain't nobody feelin' no pain

I'm not really into country, but my first album was Urban Chipmunk, by the chipmunk. It came out around the time of Urban Cowboy.

I love Alison Krauss, but this duet by country artist Kenny Chesney and one of my favorite singers, Grace Potter, is fantastic and a new favorite.

HaHa, you will love this video--she's gorgeous!

Aww, come on. I'm fairly confident you can find some country song you just might like. They got some nice girl groups too

Country music isn't my favorite either, but sometimes it suits the mood...

Try this one. It's not all THAT country. To me it seems like the roots of Rock n Roll come from blues and country and the whole American music evolution.

Now here's what I thought of as country music when I was a young girl. I despised this music - - they seemed like such hicks to me! But now that I am older and have heard much worse music, they seem like a treasure in American musical history.
