Chick Fil A is probably the best run, most consistent, franchise businesses in this country. Every single one of them is amazing when it comes to staff, efficiency, consistency, etc....it really is kind of amazing.

Wife and I refuse to eat it because it's run by a bunch of bigots. Albeit, very business savvy bigots.

This is the KING. I’d treat myself to one 2 or 3 times a year. Wouldn’t want to know how much sodium & saturated fat it contained, but by God it was delicious!
Unfortunately, it went away a year or two ago. Tried to replicate it @ home, but failed.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas.

Quote:
The Heart Attack Grill is an American hamburger restaurant in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada...
The establishment is a hospital theme restaurant: waitresses ("nurses") take orders ("prescriptions") from the customers ("patients")...
"Single", "Double", "Triple", "Quadruple", all the way up to "Octuple" "Bypass" hamburgers, ranging from 8 to 32 ounces of beef (up to about 8,000 calories), all-you-can-eat "Flatliner Fries" (cooked in pure lard)...

I'd love to go to the Heart Attack Grill, just once. At least they're honest. As a teenager I could probably have polished off an Octuple Bypass burger or at least put a respectable dent in it. Those days are long gone though.

Locally, I'd have to say Burger King then McDonalds. There are a couple of Dairy Queens around but I've never been in one and it's been probably a decade since I've been in any fast food place.

There is one here about 5 miles from my house, seems pretty popular.

I've only tried the grilled chicken sandwich a couple of times. It was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way or wait too long for it.

I guess their most popular items are the deep fried chicken sandwiches. Maybe I'll try it but I try to avoid deep fried foods.

In N Out is also run by devout religious people. There are scriptures in the wrappers.

I don't mind them, they've donated to both parties and are said to treat their employees pretty well.

But I prefer Habit Burger to either.

Bigots? Look in the mirror.

Do you have any idea how many employees have been sent through college by Truett Cathy personally and also his company? He was a man of the utmost integrity, and quite a philanthropist in the South Atlanta area.

The reason they are consistent and efficient is because they simply have higher quality people working for them. And I understand after they finally went into New York City, you can barely even get in the door of their locations.

Do I eat there? No. I can spend $12 and still come out hungry. But it's good.

Hardees/Carl Jr. really have the best "somewhat" fast food hamburgers. They are hot when they come out, however.

Most of the other burger places mentioned above are really not that appetizing to me.

One overlooked burger is at the somewhat down and out Shoneys. It's great by any standards.

Talking about the products is one thing, but the management of burger restaurants would fall into a different thread, wouldn't it? And wouldn't have anything to do with early retirement, IMHO.

Could we please stick to fast food burgers and fries and leave Chick-fil-A and other non burger places, and especially management/owners beliefs out of it before a Mod has to intervene?

If someone wants to start another thread, have at it.

I went and had to check Chik-fil-a's website after these posts, thinking they made burgers too, which was news to me. But all I found was chicken sandwiches (which for deep fried, still seem to be fairly low calorie ~ 500?).

Anyhow, back to burgers.

I don't do fast food often, and when I do, it's more likely to be one of the Mom & Pop places, or a local mini-chain, and as likely to be a Chicago-style hot dog, or a Gyro as it is a hamburger.

I have only visited ~ half those places on the OP list in the past 50 years, so maybe in another 50 years, I can rate the rest, and report back

But heck, a Whopper or a Big Mac "hits the spot" once in a while. They are what they are. Wendys, McD, Culvers, Steak & Shake, I guess they are all good for what they are. Not sure I really have a favorite among them, they are all similar, but all a little different. I wouldn't even say better/worse, just different.

But now I am craving a Wendy's - there was one close to where I worked at one time, so would stop in occasionally, probably haven't has one in 25 years.

Ever since I FIRE'd, my fast food days pretty much halted. Used to have a steady diet of McDonald's or Burger King.

That's fine, but your message should have been directed at DFDubb.
He's the one who made a comment that was totally unrelated to the OP's question. Besides, I believe it was nothing more than sarcasm.

Those who are upset by it, need to read it again.
"Chick Fil A is probably the best run, most consistent, franchise businesses in this country. Every single one of them is amazing when it comes to staff, efficiency, consistency, etc....it really is kind of amazing"

But then, in the last sentence, he say’s he’d never eat there ?
Sounds like sarcasm to me.

FYI:
It’s a very limited number of locations, but they do offer burgers & fries.

I love Whataburger but none in CA that I know of. They put exactly what I like on burgers - mustard, onion, pickles, lettuce, cheese & jalapeños. Every time I fly through an airport with a Whataburger, I try to get one.

I like McD’s fries the best. I like the charbroiled taste of BK’s burgers but don’t like their fries. In & Out has delicious burgers and shakes but I don’t like their fries at all. Plus, it takes quite some time to eat there so if I truly want a fast food burger, I wouldn’t choose In & Out. Used to love Carl’s Jr jalapeño turkey burgers but they took it off the menu.

Personally, I can't separate my top 3: In N Out, Shake Shack, and MOS Burger. These are the only ones I'd go out of my way to get a burger from.
However, I'm not a fan of In N Out's fries and I've tried them multiple ways (extra well done, animal, etc).

I don't mind the odd Wendy's burger because they do taste "fresh" but I find they (at least my local ones) are a bit inconsistent.

Carl's Jr in Mexico too.
I used to crave Harvey's now and then but I kind of feel their beef patties have gone down in quality.

For whatever reason, the Quarter Pounder With Cheese seems to have the right taste combination for me as far as fast food burgers go. Especially if I add a little extra ketchup. I've been using the app lately and invariably I can get a QPWC for only $1.00. I also like the Ultimate Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box. IMHO, In n Out is overrated: I've had to wait a long time and the burger was unremarkable. Shake Shack is also very good but they are quite expensive.

I ate at the Heart Attack Grill in Phoenix. I had a triple, an order of fries and a coke. The fries were fried in lard. The burger was huge. The place had a medical theme. I was attended to by a “doctor” and 2 “nurses” while I ate. And the nurses escorted me to the car as we left. Awesome place. Too bad the Phoenix location closed some time later.

I appologize about derailing your thread a bit, but this is a thread about fast food hamburgers. Was it to be taken super seriously? Are we solving the worlds problems here?
