just had the lamp go on my toshiba 46" dlp tv in under 2,000 hrs. these are supposed to last 5,000-8,000 hrs.

a quick check of forums on line show no one is getting aven 2800 hrs.

looks like toshiba and samsung are claiming the origonal lamps are defective and not the norm.

the lamps were replaced under warranty but be aware these lamps out of warranty are 200-300.00 bucks and thats changing it yourself.

time will tell how long the new bulbs will last but this could get expensive changing bulbs every 1-1/2- 2 years

I've been cranking my 51' Samsung since early 2003. No problem with the bulbs....yet

Have the original lamp in my Toshiba 50" for the last 3+ years with no problem. In fact, I'm taking delivery on a 50" plasma tomorrow (I'm "gifting" the Toshiba, so I won't even see how long the orignal lamp will last!) :)

One of the reasons I choose LCDs - Run Cool and I just happen to prefer the picture.
