Bored here and looking for a prognosis for Monday !

DOW dumps 666 on Friday, Yellen is gone, Super Bowl coming up, Nunes memo out. So what is the DOW going to do on Monday ? Not that I really care but fun to guess nonetheless and stir the pot a bit.

My guess is another percent or two drop, just to put things in the proper perspective of an over brought market.

What say you, oh wise sages of the FIRE forum ?

Predict it will open at 9:30am est and close at 4pm est tomorrow. Not sure how it will do between those hours. But if it drops anywhere near like it did on Friday, I'll be buying again...

It will be either down or up, maybe some of both at some points during the day - but it will end up one or the other.

Wrong! I disagree. The Dow will be up, down, or it will remain the same for the time being.

Actually I don't know which of these three will occur, because my crystal ball is malfunctioning. But I can tell you two things with ironclad certainty:

1) Whether the Dow is up, down, or remains the same on Monday, W2R will not be doing any trading at all.

2) Also the sun will come up again on Tuesday.

You can take these two things to the bank, as the saying goes.

Not at all. Some of us are both female and not into sports. I'm just happy to be safely ensconced here at home, with no football. Carnival is in full swing in New Orleans, too, and we have a big parade scheduled to pass right by our houses soon. It's supposed to start in an hour and a half, about the same time as kickoff. So, traffic/parking/etc are completely looney-tunes insane; good time to cocoon with my internet pals.

I have some cash to invest from finally dumping some individual stocks.
So I'll be buying regardless

I would not be surprised with a down day Monday, followed by higher volatility and more down days in the weeks to come. I won’t predict whether we’re headed for a major correction (-10%) or worse, but given the stellar results in the market in recent years and especially since Nov 2016, a significant correction would not surprise me.

You're absolutely right. That said, it COULD remain the same!!! Really it could. If it does I will cackle like the Wicked Witch of the West and shriek "HA HA HA!!! I TOLD YOU SO, TAKE THAT!!" from coast to coast.

That is, I will if my infernal internet will relent and stop hanging on me. Posting this afternoon is like trying to talk with one's mouth stuffed full of peanut butter, molasses, and cotton balls.

Friday was not a Dilly Dilly moment.

Looking into my chart above, I see confusion among buyers and sellers.

I vote for up, just because in my heart of hearts I am an eternal optimist.

Down some wouldn't surprise me, though. Down big would surprise me, as there really isn't a whole lot of reasons - if you ask me - for two big down days in a row. I think the last time we had that was in the depths of 2008/9 with big financial institutions going under.

Because I'm a pessimist, I vote for up.

I have the Superbowl on mute and am trying not to watch since the Saint's loss in the playoff's. It's not working cause I'm peeking.

Sour grapes means my negative attitude will be rewarded by Mr Market going up and the Pat's losing or maybe not since I don't have a dog in this fight.

And I will have gained a couple lbs. by games end.

heh heh heh - And those Vanguard computers will re balance and football season will come again .

Saw an alert an hour or so ago that the Dow Futures were down 132 point, so looks like the market will start down in the morning. Looking like an opportunity to buy on the dip...

Get in early. It will be up by the end of the day.

I will be watching the market as I always do. But I will not be trading either.

If the market drops further, my put options may kick in and I will have to buy already. If the market goes up, it's fine as my stock AA is already high. I still have some call options outstanding, but I don't think they will get in-the-money and someone will buy these shares driving my stock AA down.

In two weeks these options expire, hopefully worthless for both calls and puts, then I will think of what to do next.

For some reason while watching that sketch all that I could think of was Washington, D.C. And we'll leave it at that.

talking heads had indicated they all assumed down in the morning, up in the afternoon.. it would be shocking if they were right for once.
