Can T-Mobile rebrand itself?

This is an interesting article on how T-Mobile is trying to change its image:

https://allthingsd.com/20120415/carl...mage-makeover/

Given the amount of dissatisfaction I hear from users of other major cell phone companies in the USA, I would think there is an opening for a company that could really do something different and innovative in provding cell phone service. But, another adverstising campaign with no real meat to it will not do much, IMHO

I hope so, we sure need more competition here. And I hope to keep my 'Gold Status' pre-paid T-Mobile as it is costing me just $0.83/month and should for many years to come.

Yes, That's the only thing I remember or know about the company...

Before her, the brunette was Catherine Zeta Jones.

But I swear, I only chose them for their phone service.

How about bringing a revolution in the style this market is set up? As much world I have traveled, hardly anywhere I noticed the handsets tied to the carrier, so why only north america? Let the user choose their handset and you offer services only and that too at competing prices. If T-mobile wants to sell handsets as well, design them yourself with the help of companies like LG, Samsung, Huewei at smallest margins and sell it to the customers. Like the Indians did, loads of subscribers at tiny profit margins and majority are doing great or bring wi-fi calling like Republic Wireless, if it works the way they are advertising, it will be a serious change in the way market works. We may not get fancy phones but what is more important, service or fancy gadget that doesn't receive good services?
