Your girls are beautiful! I always loved calicos. Congratulations.

One of my first cats (1975), adopted from a county shelter, was a calico. At the shelter she was cowering in her litter box, looking awful and due for euthanasia in a day or so. I didn't make a decision until I drove all the way home and then I turned around and went back and adopted her right before they closed.

We named her Pumpkin and she was a sweet, loving companion for many years. Outdoors she would tease the blue jays and catch one when they dove at her. Then she'd proudly carry it up the stairs to our apartment and present it as a gift. Indoors she was a regal lady who loved to pose for pictures and sleep in the sun.

Cool! The one on the right seems to have a "OK, just take the picture and get it over with." expression.

... and it looks like there might be a StarFish named Patrick behind them!

I thought I remembered posting a pic of my cats. Sad day, Peaches (the furry one on the left) had a tumor that wasn't treatable. She went downhill fast, and today was her final day. She was just short of 7 years old and had been in great health until recently. She was skittish around any visitors, even my son, but really grew attached to me, and vice versa. I'll miss her, but I'm relieved her suffering is over.

This is their adoption picture, because Peaches still spends nearly all daylight hours under the bed so I haven't taken my own picture yet. They were semi-feral and timid, but have great temperament. Pepper is already very friendly, and Peaches seems to be coming around slowly after 4 days. No hissing or scratching, litter trained, and quiet other than running around half the night. Soon I'll open up the rest of the house to them and hopefully they'll explore away from me while I sleep. Someone else was trying to adopt one of them, but when I said I'd take both they zipped through approval so that I could take them. They said for the first couple of days at the foster home that Peaches would hide and bury her head into Pepper.

Sorry for your loss. I'm a dog person, but I do love calicos. Yours are beauties, and they were lucky you brought them home.
