Stories. I owned a 1962 Triumph TR4. BIg fun! I parked it facing
downhill in case I had to roll it to get it started. Also bought a
1972 Fiat Spyder for my daughter. Had a hell of a time finding
someone to work on it. First time in the shop the guy says,
"Do you know what FIAT stands for?" I said no. Answer:
"Fix It Again Tony."
I thought he was kidding. :)

I too always parked facing downhill.

Learned how to pop the bonnet from inside the left front wheel well.

Learned how to manually loosen the iced-in accelerator cable.

Learned how to double-clutch.

Drove around the parking lot, in an Iowa winter, in first gear on three cylinders until the fourth cylinder kicked in.

I had a Mustang with a leaky radiator and a bad starter, parked on hills and carried a jug of water with me always. After that I had an El Camino I had to start with a screwdriver by jumping the starter connections. It wasn't strange to see me pop the hood to start the truck and it impressed a lot of guys that I could do that without getting all girly freaked out. My dad had 6 kids, 5 girls 1 boy, he taught us all how to do our own maintenence or he would have had a full time job as fleet mechanic.
