That depends. How long was the commercial-- enough time for me to drag my teenager (kicking & screaming) into the livingroom to watch it while we parents dance?
Heck, I'd use Fidelity if they got "their" new frontman Paul McCartney to sing Da-Vida!

Re: Commericals aimed at boomers
If you're going to use it as torture for your teenager then yes it's long enough. It also has lot's of flowery images that were suppose to conjure up the pop art of the 60's so not only will you scare her for life with your dancing but the images will also do damage.

Re: Commericals aimed at boomers
Just saw a new one yeaterday from Kaiser HMO, they have Dylan singing The Times Are A Changing with plenty of pictoral references to currently overweight boomers. Wonder how they got the song. I know that some copyrights expire but I would think that would be for the music not the actual recording done by the artest.

Re: Commericals aimed at boomers
They called bob up and offered him money for the rights and he said...
hyuhya arcka forsa heeeyha hmumm!
So they figured he said yes and ran with it.

Re: Commericals aimed at boomers
Lot of them sold their copyrights.
I heard an interview with John Fogarty on public radio where he talked about battles to get rights back to his own music. The copyright owner had even sued him once for writing a song that sounded too much like one he wrote years before that the copyright owner owned. Basically he got sued for sounding too much like himself.
He also apparently did not much like the use of Fortunate Son to advertise Levi jeans.

Re: Commericals aimed at boomers
I'm not even a Boomer and the commercials really annoy me. What would be a real killer is if they started using RUSH songs in commercials. I doubt, however, that the band would ever sell out (then again, the Rolling Stones have, and they've got more money than they know what to do with!)
Maybe a commercial of a Boomer with no retirement nest egg still working at 75+ years old accompanied by "Working Man"?
P.S. For those of you who are fans, check out this page. It's a hilarious rating of the group's albums:
