Congressional hearing on Mitchell Report
Why is congress wasting time on hearings related to steroid use in baseball? It makes for great theater and enables congressmen to get in front of the cameras and look like hero's, but shouldn't this be something that should be policed and regulated by MLB? Now if laws were broken, the ones involved should pay the price. But that should be handled in the courts. I just don't get it I guess.

I can picture the Salem witch hunts while watching. Good use of tax dollars.

I actually think it is great...baseball has turned a blind eye on illegal activity for years......I have no problem with Congress having hearings even if it is sometimes sensational...

I agree with bosco that the key is to keep them busy so they don't totally mess important things up. (Though to me, baseball is pretty important.)
Texas figured this out from the beginning; we only allow the state legislature to meet once every two years. In a good session they don't get around to passing any bills ...

I dunno, Arlen Specter seems to be pretty determined to raise a Patriot Act... :
