I've w*rked with Laurence for years - pleasure w*rking with him. He took care of our program with some not so easy w*rk and customer.

When I replied to his question with LBYM and saw his backwards tilt and raised eyebrows I suspected that there was a common chord.

But then I did the double take when he said he was a moderator here!

I then did a quick mental scan of my post history...I think I'm clean!

I have to admit I think it would be a little uncomfortable if we found each other out and were still working together! It's weird to have the cyber world and the real world collide.

I don't think we have enough forum members to make a recognition symbol practical, but it reminded me of another one.

Many years ago, when Mensa (the high IQ society) was quite small, members wanted some unobtrusive way to recognize each other in public. It was decided to use a little yellow map pin (LYMP) stuck in your lapel as the secret symbol.

Each new member was sent one, along with the reason for it. The custom became widespread for awhile, although it gradually died out because fewer and fewer people wore jackets with lapels to place them in.

Even today, you can find references (usually humorous) to the LYMP among older members at Mensa gatherings.

I LOVE meeting up with any folks from the forum, always. It is great fun to make a personal connection with people who I've gotten to know only through the internet. I imagine the odds of my boss or my only co-worker being on the forum are pretty small, though, so safe there.

Neat story about a small world.

I'll remember the LBYM code word for future use though.

I missed this until someone quoted, haha! Moderator Emeritus, technically. I mostly lurk now and just get active posting when I have a new issue I need a sounding board for. This site was a steamy romance novel for me for some time, now it's more of a trusty encyclopedia I come back to in times of need....

Congrats again, it really was an awesome, surreal experience!

LBYM as a code word should work very well.
