I would also try the channel-changing buttons.

I like watching Netflix and the free videos that come with Amazon Prime because there are no commercials.

Or, perhaps, the OFF button...

My TV has been off the last few months. But when I was in the boonies home, the satellite-dish TV becomes my window into the world. What if the world collapses without me knowing, and zombies are running around like the movie "28 days"?

And up there, I do tune in to Bloomberg to see what the market is doing.

I've noticed a certain trendiness that runs in advertising. When someone comes with a unique spin to put out there, lots of imitators rush in to run with the ball.
For example, the recent uptick in the use of phrases like "one weird trick".

Just found out I can choose the kind of advertising I "want" to see on Google, by going to my "profile" and choosing the things I'm interested in.

Now THAT is awesome.
www.google.com/ads/preferences

But you already knew that, didn't you?

Am always the last one to know.

At first I was annoyed and a bit scared when FB started offering me ads, and the choice of customizing them. Then I realized there was something in it for me, since the Amethysts can be hard to shop for.

Since I've been rejecting 99.999% of the offered ads, the few that survive have been genuinely interesting -- and have caused me to buy a small number of successful gifts. I do not think I would have found these sites on my own.

There are ads?

I got a good laugh out of FB one day, when it recommended three pages I might like:

God, Merle Haggard, and Weeds...
