The only real snippy stuff is the political talk, which is hard to avoid in almost any forum (but at least the good ones isolate political talk into one easy-to-avoid forum, like this one does).

Avoiding the Soap Box can reduce blood pressure by 10 points, I'll bet, for those who are tired of all-politics-all-the-time and tired of people who seem to turn everything into politics.

Most of the people I've known who are obsessed with politics and bring it into every discussion are among the most bitter and unhappy people I've known.

I have to say I don't know anyone in real life who doesn't talk about politics. Sure I guess ignorance can bring a kind of bliss, but I enjoy the energy and passion of my friends and relatives. I will miss dex and his contributions, including those on politics!

One dictionary definition of politics:

The often internally conflicting interrelationships among people in a society.

Hey, if you can avoid that I guess you're golden!

Now THERES a revenue generating opportunity if I ever saw one. Put all the mod deleted porn and snappy user posts into a private forum and charge $5 a month to read it.

Even better, the people who'd be paying $5/month are largely the same people generating the content!

Because otherwise being in command would be so boring!

After an unfortunate series of groundings & collisions, the submarine force lassoed together all those malcontents and gave them the burden of "forceful backup". You can question authority whenever you want but you'd better be able to show your calculations and explain your work.

I don't know if the Air Force has a similar saying, but in the Navy it's: "Hey, that's why COs get the big command bucks." Hopefully command pay is not still $100/month.

First I want to thank those who took the time to write me a private message and to post to this thread. It was nice to receive the kind words. I never really though my posts might have actually influenced anyone.

So I will be back - and not using a revolving door.

Not to single anyone out but I will be taking Telly's advise on how to approach reading the posts on this board. He reminded me of Poseidon rising out of the sea to give a wayward ship a push in the right direction.

There are some people here and I know I still have things to learn from their experiences. If others can learn from my experinces; so much the better.

IMHO, something has changed on this board. The negative aspects are outweighing the positive ones. I believe it is imperative to maintain a positive attitude before and during your retirement.
