Did You Vote?
I voted last week at City Hall.
DW voted this morning and said it was crowded and quite a few were registering.
Interested to see if we are voters and if there is much of a turnout for the mid-elections where you live.

Re: Did You Vote?
Spouse and I voted absentee last week, and our kid voted with the other 9th graders.

Re: Did You Vote?
Yep! Voted about 15 minutes after the poles opened. Saw more folks there this morning than in the last few election days. And it was rainy besides....might actually end up be a good turn out for a change. Of course there's a referendum on the ballot asking to increase the sales tax.
Yeah, right.....I'm not paying enough taxes now, I WANT to pay more!!!
Should be able to tally the "YES" votes on one hand!

Re: Did You Vote?
My voting precinct is in the basement of a country church; I stopped on the way in to work. It usually takes about 45 secs to walk in, check in, & vote. It took about twice that today; a real logjam turnout!
Cool & rainy here; wonder which party that favors??

Re: Did You Vote?
I got up at 5 and made the coffee. Son & I were at the polls at 7:15 (beautiful weather day here in Az). We waited less than 5 minutes to get a 4 page ballot. Daughter was a sleepy head earlier, but she is at the polls now. Turn out seems lighter than the primary a few weeks ago but did that at 6pm.
Should be intresting to watch the returns this evening on all the local issues.

Re: Did You Vote?
I got to my polling place at 6:45 (opens at 7) and was third in line. We used the new electronic devices for the first time, and it took me about 20 seconds to vote. I was in and out in about 3 minutes.

We passed a 1/2 cent sales tax increase an election or 2 ago. The main difference between the two...before the last referendum, the City gave specifics of what it would be spent on (and when), for this referendum the County has done an extremely good job of NOT giving any specifics, other than the general "Because we need it, and we'll use it where we see fit." And with our County board's history of wasting money, their hopes of successfully getting this passed is......well, about as good as my chance of hitting the Lotto!!! It's possible....but HIGHLY unlikely!!!

Re: Did You Vote?
Voted early about a week ago. In/Out in about 10 minutes. No line, but a long ballot. Early Voting #s were up compared to 4 years ago here. I can't remember the last time that I actually voted on election day, maybe 20 yers ago? There is really a forest of "elect me" signs all over the place at poling places. I sure hope that winners as well as losers get out early tomorrow and take down all of their s**t.
Shouldn't there be some kind of environmental movement counting all of the "election porn" that arrives in the mail and we see along the streets of our cities and making a big to-do about the trees that died and visual pollution we look at?

Re: Did You Vote?
Hmmmmmm....... It's not "did you vote?" it's "how many times did you vote?" And what techniques did you use to get your extra votes?
What treat did you get in exchange for your votes? Continued employment? City services such as garbage pickup? A sixpack?

Re: Did You Vote?
Our county is now vote-by-mail only. I miss the ritual of going to the polling place, and bs-ing with the others in line.
I dropped my ballot off at the Auditor's office yesterday afternoon, that was the closest I could come to voting in person.

I haven't missed one vote since I turned 18. I'm going right now.

DW and I just returned from our precinct. They gave us each a little sticker that said "I Voted." I love stickers. Afterwards, I asked if I could vote elsewhere to get more of them. DW sat next to me while I marked my paper ballot, so I had to tow the party line. But it wasn't very difficult . In fact, I made her go back to mark the 'increasing the allocation for public transit referendum' with a "yes." Man-oh-man, could it get any better then this, tax adjustment issues AND stickers?
Pretty quiet at noon with about ten voters in the building. No lines; no problems. It's Minnesota .

Re: Did You Vote?
6:45 am. No lines. We still use the big mechanical lever voting machines here, so no problems.

That's so impressive. I abstain my vote at least 50% of the time, when I don't understand all the involved issues.
How much time do you study before voting?

I study the issues before voting and read up on most of the candidates.
I make a cheat sheet for myself as I learn about the referendum questions and the candidates and then copy all my answers on the ballot so I don't waste time in the booth.
