CNBC: Larry Kudlow and Santelli screaming at each other above the shrill voices of others on the split screen reminds me of Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel yelling above the roar of hurricane winds to his studio pundit counterpart. These stations love a big storm and the hype and posturing for the camera get all out of proportion to reality. But it is hypnotic in some way. I wasted too much time last week tracking Ike and now it's CNBC this morning. There, I turned it off and put on some music.

I haven't been able to find CNBC since I downgraded from expanded to basic cable. Much calmer around my house with fewer channels. I recorded eight hours each of the favorites before canceling them so I had something to get through withdrawal. Maybe I'll go over to Google Finance and see how the market is doing today, any idea?
