Discovered the Cause of Dying Bees: Idiots

Friend of mine sent me a link to this post on another forum. I think it clearly shows the reason for all those dying bees we heard about a year or two ago.

Scroll down the first post and read the captions. Truly unbelievable that people like this can live long enough to become adults.

I wish I had that swarm to put in a hive at my place, before the bee barbeque. My guess is that the main hive is still in the wall of the house, and this swarm was the expelled queen and her brood.

Yeah

The Chicago metro area has 8M people, and the yellow pages have exactly ZERO listings for bee keepers.

If I ever see that in my back yard I'm getting out the blowtorch.

What a bunch of a..holes,i'm surprised they didnt start firing off shotguns.they were very lucky those bees werent the African variety of bees or they would have been hunted down and delt with.
The swarm was probably looking for a new home the queen was probably at the center of that mass,all they had to do was plug up that hole in the house and the bees would have been gone the next day.

I'd probably do the same.

I just can't imagine saying "Hey honey, tell the kids they can't go outside in the backyard and play on their swing set for the next year or two until those darn bees leave. And honey, I can't mow the grass or take care of the yard because those bees are still back there"

I'd don my impervious hornet-killing suit and have at those suckers.

(mildly allergic to bees and very young kids probably are too. I like nature but I don't want me or my family members to die - sorry)

Thing is, when honeybees are in a swarm like that one they are very docile - scary looking, but really gotta work at it to get stung. I collected a swarm as a young teen - put a hive body with some sugar water inside and at the entrance below the swarm, cut the branch and bounced it against the dirt to knock most of the swarm onto/around the hive, left them alone till dark, came back and sealed the hive entrance and moved the hive home. OTOH, if you want to kill bees they're sure easiest to kill when they are in a nice swarm. Awful waste of really useful creatures though. Now groundwasps, those i have a personal vendetta against - weapon of choice:mothballs inthe entrances and cover. bwaahaha!

Idiots indeed...... Besides, they forgot to pour a few gallons of that paint thinner into the access hole to the hive in the wall of the house and light 'er off! I mean, it's a rental, so WTF, who cares?

I agree Calmloki. We kept bees growing up and honey bees just are not that problematic.

They probably would not have had to waited long for the swarm to move along.

Where I grew up that would not have been at all out of the ordinary.

Same thing happened at my house a few years back. Big swarm moved in, hung around near my deck and then moved into a neighbors tree right on the property line.

Bees generally wont bother anyone unless you directly antagonize them. In this case my neighbor called a company that rents out little portable beehives to farmers for pollination season. They came out and used a sort of a vacuum cleaner with a long pipe connected to a clear plastic box. He just vacuumed the bees out of the tree and into the box. Gave my neighbor some money for the free bees.

Thats what gave me the idea for the blowervac with the long pipe to suck yellowjacket nests out of my attic.

Now that's the most ingenious thing I've ever seen.

An electronic compost pile on the internet that collects all the waste vegetable matter and two legged one cell organisms roaming the earth.

How do people come up with stuff like that?
