doing my tax, quick question on cap. gain

on my 1099-div from from vanguard, under Total Cap gain dist(Box 2a)., I have around $2400. I'm using TaxAct and I have no issue entering the number in the app, but I'm just wondering will this be considered short-term or long-term gain? It doesn't say on the 1099.

It is a Long Term capital gain distribution.

Short-term capital gain distributions are lumped in together with the dividends on box 1a 1099-DIV.

Here is a link to the 1099-DIV instructions that are designed for the institutions that make and report such payments.
