Amazing! Not for me, but surely somebody somewhere might want such a lovely and yet secure home.

I doubt anybody would ever bother to bomb post-Katrina New Orleans. So, I am not too worried about being bombed here, and would never buy such a home even if I could afford it (which I can't! ).

But if I *did* have such a home, I would hide the entry into the lower floors and then sleep down there, safe and protected from burglars and such. Oh well. I slept a good 9 hours last night with no nightmares, despite the burglary at my house last week so I guess a silo isn't necessary.

Sorry to hear about the burglary. Maybe you could get by with a simple sign out front that says "Protected by Smith & Wesson"

That is amazing. Even if I could afford it I doubt that I'd want to be quite that isolated though.

It's zombie-proof. That's a plus.

Here's some more discussion:
Nuclear Family Housing: Life In a Real Missile Silo Home | Urbanist

Anyway, take it from one who knows a bit about these things -- it will be a maintenance nightmare.

I bet, most likely, the owner won't be able to get to it when the apocalypse happens. But I see a commercial potential for those who are curious to spend a week there. How about $1000 per night sounds? TV dinner would be supplied.

It must be warmer underground that at the surface in the Adirondacks
these days. Sounds like a perfect time to use the shelter.

I would love that place, DW, not so much. Seems like one would have to learn to fly to make it practical...........

If I was worried about The Walking Dead, I'd book it to a place like this:
SEX PEAK. LOOKOUT RENTAL, MT - Campground & Camping Details - ReserveAmerica - [NRSO]

Bonus that it's only $35/night but probably no payment required if it's catastrophe reigning with a chance of zombie invasion.

Its amazing how far people think they will travel once the end of the world starts. I will be headed to my basement and no further.

I'm headed to the wine cellar (aka basement) and I'll be sure not to forget the bottle opener...

It will be the standard Grandma drill ("Everyone into the cellar!") for us. All the stores are down there, plus it has the taps, movie theater, and dart board:
