Now this scares me....

I do see the application if one has lost the use of hands and legs, but
I hope this technology ever goes mainstream.

When I was taught to drive years ago in driver's ed class, the instructor taught us to "drive with our eyes". I don't mean not holding the steering wheel. The lesson was that we should look where we want to go. It was explained the reason people crashed when looking away from the road was because your hands have a natural attention to follow your eyes when steering.

I can see it now...
Police officer: Your car is driving out of control. Are your brakes and struts damage or something?
Driver: No officer, just driving with my eyes but the halter tops and short skirts keep distracting me

You would not believe how often that does happen!
Halter tops and short skirts are a true traffic safety hazard.
