In the late 80's we live on the east coast of Fl. Our route from Patrick AFB to the gunnery range in central FL. was straight down the coast. We often saw large schools of fish a hundred yards or so off the coast. We also noticed small A/C that appeared to be directing fishing boats to these schools. Never knew if it was legal, but it sure allowed sport fishing boat captains a better chance at a catch. I wouldn't be surprised to see drones used in this fashion today. I would also guess that crabbers and lobster fisherman would use any means available to tell them where to set their traps.

In most commercial fisheries there is a season catch limit, that is set by stocks before the season starts. When the predetermined limit is met, fishing is over. Probably the better commercial fishermen can target the fish or mollusks, the better for them and for the fish since there is likely to be less collateral damage.

I am sure there were people back in the day who complained about guns for hunting when everyone was using a good ole fashion bow. Since the drone does not mean you kill more than your limit (like dynamite or a gill net) it seems entirely reasonable when coupled to daily or seasonal limits per person.

Otherwise why not get rid of all technology when hunting and fishing?

Funny I see no difference between this and having a guy in a piper cub spotting for bluefin.
