Thanks Walt & Midpack,

I bought my DJI Phantom with the Zenmuse gimbal option. The gimbal is like a gyroscope that keeps the gopro fairly level and still during flight.

The operator in my case is not that good yet, but I'm getting better. Even with the gimbal, I have some jerkiness. I just trim the jerky areas out of the final video. This video was taken on a fairly calm day.

I think that 10-20 mph winds would be doable, as long as the wind was constant, not swirling. I took mine out on a day with steady winds, and it was fairly stable. I had to toggle it on forward a little to keep it stationary. Stuff like that to compensate for the wind.

That's really cool. I hadn't noticed that option, I'd probably want that too. Thanks...

That's it. A little assembly required to attach it to the quadcopter, but not a big deal.

The quadcopter controller for the latest version 2 drone also has a wheel for adjusting vertical tilt of the camera in flight. I don't know if this functionality is possible without the gimbal.

With the gimbal it should be smooth. I've seen other clips, not necessarily of the Phantom, where they fly it low, like along a skateboarder, and it's like a tracking shot in a movie, where they'd have to have some dolly tracks laid down.

Smoother than the steadicam shots.

I've been playing around with recording videos with my iPhone 6 Plus, which has video stabilization (electronic) and it is very smooth, compared to the videos I take handheld with my DSLR.

Drones which can carry nicer cameras (which usually means bigger and heavier) become more expensive, though I don't think I'd put an expensive DSLR on one of these things.

A new low-priced model:

</title> <meta name="Keywords" content="camera, manual, HD video, wifi, Quadcopter, GPS, drone, flight, aries, battery, comprehensive remote, smartphone app, water resistant, dual operator, Emergency Failsafe, GPS stabilized" /> <meta name="descripti

Looks like the category is becoming more competitive. I think ultimately, they'll have models with some auto flight capabilities, letting you focus more on taking the pictures.

Very nice - thanks for posting! Auto flight is definitely a must for photographers. And a controller with the live camera view. I can't tell precisely where the camera is facing with my DJI Phantom. I may clip whatever I'm interested in shooting and I don't find out until I'm back home and process the video. I think DJI has a controller that has the camera view and I believe they have a specified flight path option.
