"For those lucky enough to have saved..." usually gets me. Luck has very little to do with it Ted Baxter (or whatever your name is). Its' all about the LBYM.

"We'll have more on that story after the break"

.......and then it's some minor detail not worth waiting for. This is why I have completely given up on watching TV news.

"Go-to." I encounter this more in magazines than on TV. It seems every page of any women's mag has a reference to "your go-to color," "go-to blouse," "go-to lipstick," "go-to exercise," "go-to recipe," and so forth. (What happened to "favorite"?) Worse than a cliche, it's baby talk. Baby talk, from anybody except a baby, sets my teeth on edge.

Apart from the ubiquitous filler noise "like," the phrase that makes me want to take a knife to my ears lately is, "The thing is, is..."

Lake Superior State University publishes a "banished words" list every year. Many of the suggestions in this thread are already on it. :-)

The use of "earregardless" instead of regardless.

Active shooter. Shooter isn't enough? Even saw one reporter describe the police sending in their own active shooters to confront the active shooter.

I always knew Channel 9 was against me personally as well as human civilization!

"I suspect..." and "certainly" seem a little pompous.
