I've only seen two cars break 10 secs. One was an Acura NSX that had been converted to a race car. 600HP and very light. It was the drivers first time drag racing and he probably could have gotten faster with more practice. The other was a Chevy Nova. lol talk about range. The Nova was a drag specialist.

I think it's one friday per month you can drag race your car as many times as you want for $10 at the Las Vegas Speedway.

Thats a good deal, but if you go too fast, many tracks will not let you run again without a roll cage. A helmut is also a required.

Why the heck do they require you to have a German guy to race?

Reminds me of the Nevada Open and Big Bend Texas road races. I had planned to enter the Nevada race a number of years ago and wanted to run one of my Vettes in the unlimited class. (anything over 180 MPH) However to do that required a "lot" of extra safety equipment. Beside a helmut (helmet) you had to have a fire suit, 5 point harness, fuel cell, full roll bar, fire suppression system, etc to run in the unlimited class. I guess there's good reason, but it was more than I wanted to do.

They close down a ~90 mile section of highway (State Hwy 318 I think) and let you have at it. You don't race against other cars, just drive within designated "speed classes". At 180+ mph, I understand you will just about burn up an entire tank of gas over the 90 mile course in a late model Vette, if you are lucky. (Guess it's a good thing it's only 90 miles) It was on my bucket list but I guess I'll never get to that one. Or maybe I should make it the last thing I "plan" to do on my bucket list if they still have/allow the events.

I remember that Big Bend Open road race, didn't do it either. My bucket list race was the One Lap of America, however, Vette's gone, no more fast cars, so unlikely to happen in retirement.

Farm Truck has at least 1500 hp, probably closer to 2000 if he really pushes the nitrous oxide. It has an aftermarket lightweight front suspension, and other tricks to help lighten it, although still heavy by drag racing standards.

*any* Lamborghini would not stand a chance. I have not seen official numbers, but I would estimate Farm Truck can run deep into the 8's.

If you watch Street Outlaws, the top cars are running into the low 7's or high 6 second range. Farm Truck is not one of those, but it is also street driven (limited) and is still very respectable.

My guess is that Farm Truck is pushing maybe a 1000 HP at most with a huge nitrous shot, it runs in the low 10s. The other cars on the show are not running 6s, that is Pro Stock territory, and most Pro Stocks are making maybe 1300 -1400 HP. Others cars on the show possibly in the 8 - 9 sec range.

Edit - Here is dyno of Farm Trucks new engine, its doing better than my guess, but even with a three stage nitrous it won't be making 2000 HP, but 1400 -1500 HP seems plausible:

That farm truck did look a little old. It was time for a new engine.

I'd like to take that thing for a ride.

Me too, I doubt I could pedal one of those cars without crashing when it gets loose.
